LAHORE: (Friday, October 23, 2020): Punjab University College of Information Technology’s Professor of Artificial Intelligence and National Centre of Artificial Intelligence Director Prof Dr Syed Waqar ul Qounain Jaffry has been honored the designation of a senior member by the Board of Directors of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), USA. According to a press release, ACM Senior membership is a prestigious grade awarded to a computing professional who has demonstrated performance through technical leadership, and technical and professional contributions. ACM Senior members are selected by the ACM Board of Directors based on the nominee’s professional maturity, academic excellence and significant contributions in the field. The ACM is a US-based international learned society for computing. It was founded in 1947, and is the world's largest scientific and educational computing society based in New York City, USA. Prof Jaffry is the only sitting academician in the University of the Punjab who has won this honor. It is pertinent to mention that last year, based on Prof Jaffry's technical excellence and professional contributions, he was also elected as a senior member of IEEE and the vice chair of the IEEE Computer Society, Lahore Section. The academic fraternity of the university has congratulated him for this great achievement and wish him success in his professional career. |
