PU Syndicate recommends restructuring of faculties


LAHORE: (Wednesday November 11, 2020): Punjab University Syndicate on Wednesday recommended restructuring of 13 faculties and creation of six new faculties for the approval of PU Senate with minor changes in the recommendations of Academic Council. The meeting was presided over by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar while Lahore High Court Justice Justice Ameer Bhatti and other members participated in the meeting. The meeting decided to send the case of appointment of four pro-vice chancellors to the Parliament for discussion and its approval. The meeting recommended the service structure of private secretaries and stenographers to the Senate for its approval. The meeting approved recommendations of the Selection Boards and appointment of various heads of departments. A PU spokesman said that the administration was working for more than two years to restructure the faculties to meet the latest requirement of knowledge in all the fields. PU Academic Staff Association has termed restructuring of faculties a historic moment and thanked PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed for bringing changes to the academic departments in order to fulfill modern requirements of all the subjects and fields. PUASA said that the restructuring would help produce quality graduates as per modern requirements of relevant fields and make a considerable contribution towards improvement in international ranking of the university.
