PU, China vow to strengthen friendship further


LAHORE: (Saturday, July 10, 2021): Punjab University and Chinese Consulte in Lahore have expressed the resolve to strengthen relations between the two nations further as both the neighbours enjoy friendship deeper than the sea and higher than Himalayas. The resolve was expressed at a friendship match organized by Punjab University Department of Sports to commemorate 70 years of Pak-China friendship at PU Sports Gymnasium on Saturday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Pro VC Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Chief in political section at Consulate General of people’s Republic of China Mr Du Yue, Chairman Lahore Overseas Chinese Association Mr Luo Qiang, Executive Chairman Lahore Overseas Chinese Association Mr Luo Jianxue, Director Sports Tahira Saleem, Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Abid Hussain Choudhary, Director Students Affairs Prof Dr Muhammad Shafiq, Chinese Director Confucius Institute Prof Cai jinbao, Host Director Dr Rana Ijaz Ahmed, senior faculty members, officcials and a large number of players participated in the event. The event was marked with friendly matches of badminton between Pakistani and Chinese students and faculty members. Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed stressed the need to enhance academic collaboration and cultural exchange programs in order to promote bilateral relations further. He said that PU was playing its role to enhance relations with Chinese universities and all-out support was being extended to Chinese students on campus. Mr Du Yu said that China and Pakistan are time tested friends. He said that China really appreciated the love received from Pakistan and its people. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar thanked the participants and said that such events would be organized to provide a platform for better understanding of each other. Later, souvenirs and shields were distributed among the guests and players.
