7th International Conference on Mental Health and Rehabilitation Held Online by Centre for Clinical Psychology, University of the Punjab, Lahore.

The Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP), University of the Punjab, organized the 7th International Conference on Mental Health and Rehabilitation: Contemporary Trends and Advances in Clinical Practice from November 19-21, 2024. Originally, it was planned as an in- person event over three days, the conference was shifted to a hybrid format due to the lockdown imposed to control smog in Lahore. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Lahore supported the conference as its Patron, demonstrating his commitment to advancing mental health research. Prof. Dr. Saima Dawood, Director, Centre for Clinical Psychology, University of the Punjab, Lahore organized the event, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing emerging challenges in mental health care and rehabilitation.The conference attracted a diverse group of experts, researchers, and students from across Pakistan and internationally. Delegations from Indonesia, the UK, Ireland, as well as local experts and professionals from Islamabad and Karachi participated and shared their knowledge and words of wisdom. Two certification training workshops for professionals were also conducted by international experts: Prof. Dr. Ghazala Mir, Professor of Health Equity and Inclusion School of Medicine, University of Leeds, UK on Behavioral Activation and Dr. Akhtar Ali Syed, Principal Clinical Psychologist, Brothers of Charity Services, Waterford, Ireland on Eidetic Therapy. The event contained an engaging academic program with 11 scientific sessions, 6 symposiums, and 2 panel discussions. Topics explored included new treatment approaches, evidence-based therapies, the role of technology in mental health care and the integration of mental health services into rehabilitation programs. These discussions emphasized contemporary trends and recent advancements in clinical practice offering a platform for knowledge exchange.

It was a valuable opportunity for attendees to share insights, learn from each other, and collaborate on solutions for the future of mental health care. The success of this conference reflects CCP on going dedication to foster academic excellence and promoting global collaboration in mental health and rehabilitation.
