PU Faculty member participates in exhibition at Alhamra


The Director of Institute of Polymer and Textile Engineering, University of the Punjab (IPTE-PU) Prof. Dr. Shahzad Maqsood Khan delivered a significant talk titled "Plastic Waste Recycling for Sustainable Valuable Products & Petrochemicals Production Supporting UNO-SDGs & Promoting Circular Economy" in seminar and exhibition "SUPs Negative Impacts, Obligations and Recycling Technologies." organized by “The Strategic Planning and Implementation Unit, Environment Protection and Climate Change Department, Punjab Green Development Program, Government of the Punjab.” The seminar took place at the Alhamra Art Council in Lahore on November 28, 2024. The event underscored the obligations of various sectors to address plastic waste and its harmful impacts, promoting a circular economy as an essential strategy for sustainable environmental practices. The talk focused on the critical role of plastic waste recycling in contributing to sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. The Director emphasized how recycling technologies can not only mitigate the negative impacts of single-use plastics (SUPs) but also promote the production of valuable products and petrochemicals, aligning with global environmental goals. The seminar highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration between research institutions like IPTE-PU and government sectors to advance research and development in recycling technologies and environmental protection.
