PU Library pays tribute to Allama Iqbal

LAHORE: (Saturday, November 22, 2025): Punjab University Library Book Club organized an event to pay tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, featuring two significant works: “Revisioning Iqbal: As a Poet and Muslim Political Thinker” edited by Gita Dharampal-Frick, and “Kuliyat-e-Iqbal (Farsi)”. The program highlighted Iqbal’s intellectual depth, poetic grandeur, and continued relevance for self-discovery and social thought. On this occasion, Chief Librarian Muhammad Asif Khan, Associate Professor Dr Uzma Zareen Nazia, Assistant Professor Muhammad Raseed Arshad, faculty members, librarians and a large number of students were present. Dr Uzma Zareen Nazia shed ligh on Kuliyat-e-Iqbal and recited selected Persian verses. She explained their meanings with clarity and passion, emphasizing Iqbal’s message of spiritual elevation, inner transformation, and self-realization. Dr Muhammad Raseed Arshad discussed the diverse scholarly perspectives on Iqbal as both a poet and a Muslim political thinker in the English book “Revisioning Iqbal”. His thought-provoking analysis encouraged students to actively participate, raising insightful questions about Iqbal’s philosophy and global intellectual impact. Chief Librarian Muhammad Asif Khan expressed his gratitude to the speakers and participants for their valuable engagement. He reaffirmed the library’s commitment to promoting reading habits among students.
