Training for teachers and administrative officers should be mandatory: VC

LAHORE: (Tuesday, February 10, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali stated that training for teachers and administrative officers should be mandatory for everyone. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the ‘National Outreach Program for Management’, organized by PU in collaboration with the HEC National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), at the seminar hall of the Institute of Business Administration. On this occasion, Deputy Director HEC Saadia Bukhari, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, Training Coordinator Dr. Sania Zahra Malik and administrative officers were present. In his address, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that the world system is changing very rapidly, and it is essential to understand these changes. He termed this training program an excellent initiative of the HEC. He emphasized that comprehensive training for teachers and officers should be conducted at the time of appointment. He added that training enhances professional skills, personality development, and self-confidence, and said that as long as the effort to learn continues, progress will also continue. Ms. Sadia Bukhari shared that this initiative marks the first time NAHE has brought national-level training programs directly to universities, with the aim of improving accessibility, outreach, and participation across public sector institutions. She added that the training modules have been developed very carefully and include modules on professional development and the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace. As Training Coordinator, Dr Sania Zahra Malik expressed gratitude to the VC, MD, NAHE Dr Noor Amna Malik and Ms. Sadia Bukhari for their support. She extended special thanks to NAHE for allocating a grant of PKR 1 million, making the successful implementation of this program possible.
