PU Radio FM 104.6 marks ‘World Radio Day’


LAHORE: (Friday, February 14, 2025): Punjab University School of Communication Studies’ FM Radio 104.6 organized an awareness walk from SCS to CEES to mark ‘World Radio Day’. On this occasion, Director School of Communication Studies Prof Dr Abida Ashraf, Associate Professor at Cairo University, Egypt Dr Fatima Elzahraa, Chairperson Department of Development Communication Dr Ayesha Ashfaq, Chairperson Department of Digital Media Dr Savera Shami, Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Akram Somroo, Program Manager Radio FM 104.6 Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry, and students were present. In her address Dr Abida said that youth does not give importance to radio because they consider it a difficult medium as compare to other media. Dr Fatima said that in Pakistan radio is considered as a backward medium, while in England everyone’s morning starts with listening to radio. She said that the culture of dialogue must be promoted to achieve peace in the country. Dr Akram said that radio has access to places where newspapers cannot reach. He appreciated the efforts of organizers for organizing such a fruitful event. Muhammad Irshad said that communication has become very powerful in today's era; it has a very important role in the 5th generation war.
